Review of the Kylie Jenner Lip Kits
I know that this one has been long overdue, but honestly, I’ve been out of the blogging loop for a few weeks. I guess it’s one of those phases that we all go through when one part of our lives demands so much attention that the rest of the things we usually do end up taking a back seat. Don’t get me wrong here. I LOVE to blog! I love to communicate with my readers as much as possible. But I’ve been having one of those phases where I’ve been busy with so much work on the personal front that I’ve not been able to give my 100 percent to my job. However, I felt this one is much needed since half the world is going CRAZY over the Kylie Jenner Lip kits.
I know that most of us have a lot of other things on our mind such as, if you’re from India, then you’re definitely crying over the demonetisation of literally 86% of our country’s currency and if you’re from the ROW, then you’re just crying over Donald Trump’s election as the President of the United States of America. But, for those of us looking to divert attention to more frivolous things, here’s my two cents (cause that’s literally all I have left in my wallet) on these lip kits.
So instead of getting my hands on the entire collection (for the simple reason that I cannot afford it at the moment and that I did not see a point in buying too many colours to test a product that I might or might not like), I picked two colours that seemed quite ideal to me for my skin tone – Kristen and Posie K. One thing that I must add here is that since there is no way to test the colours against your skin tone before ordering them, you can refer to my pictures in this post to get an idea of how they appear on Indian skin. Also, check them out on Pinterest to get a good idea as well. Scroll below to read my review of each of these colours –
a) Packaging : As you can see from the above image, the packaging for the lip kits is actually quite fantastic. I love the lips dripping colour and the strong black and white colour combination on the pack. It
I was particularly giddy when I saw the packaging. The pack showcases the actual colour of the lipstick on each side to help you identify it better. However, I personally feel that the colour is a bit darker on application as compared to the colour on the box, so do take that into account when purchasing it.
As you can see from the above image, the lip kit actually has two components – the Matte Liquid lipstick and the matching lip pencil to help you outline your lips better. Did I mention that the lipstick has a nice Vanilla – ish smell to add to its attraction as well?
Anyway, these ones are to give you a better idea of how the Kristen Matte Liquid Lipstick and the Lip liner look. Kristen is a combination of several ideal colours perfectly suitable for the Indian skin tone. It has a base of brick red mixed with a deeper brownish red to give you this fantastic colour.
The Matte Liquid lipstick comes with a soft applicator stick that helps the colour to glide on easily
The lip liner too is buttery smooth and it’s amazingly good just by itself as well. Don’t worry, apparently you can sharpen it up. I haven’t tried it yet, but Kylie’s team definitely says so!
b) The Colour:
I have to admit that the pigment is fantastic. It lasts a long while (let’s say a few hours) and it’s less dry than most of it’s counterparts (such as the NYX Matte Lip Creme and the Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Creme, although the latter has a longer lasting pigment).
Pair it with the lip liner and you’ve got yourself a bomb of a combination!
2. Posie K
Much like Kristen, the packaging on Posie K is equally fantastic. The only difference between the boxes is the colour on the lips and the colour on the sides of the box.
Much like Kristen, Posie K too has a glass finish bottle with adorable packaging.
Let me just come straight to the point here, Posie K is a mid level pink with deep rosy tints to it. I practically wear this one everyday and it’s my perfect go to colour. My lips look fantastic all day long, everyday!
In conclusion, for $29 plus international shipping, it might be a very expensive affair when there are other alternatives available in India (NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream). I suggest you sign up for the newsletter on Kyliecosmetics.com to keep a tab on interesting deals. I purchased these two when international shipping was down to a mere $5!
Also, I suggest you only buy these from the original website that I’ve mentioned in the previous paragraph in order to get the original product. There are a lot of companies that are making dupes of the originals because they are mostly sold out. However, relying on the newsletter is the best option for deals and for emails conveying a stock up of your desired products!
