Hey guys,

The monsoon season is here and as usual, its wreaking havoc on my hair and skin. Thanks to the sticky humid weather, my hair becomes super frizzy and doing makeup seems pointless. However, I too am resiliant and I refuse to give up! Years of dealing with this weather has taught me some tricks that allow me to keep myself looking good despite the humidity. So read below and try them out for yourself!

  • Powder Foundation

During these especially humid and unpredictable weather conditions, I prefer wearing a powder foundation instead of creams and liquids. The powder keeps my skin shine free and matte, while giving me the coverage of a liquid foundation.

My pick: Mac Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation.

  • Leave in Serum

I also prefer applying a leave in serum to my hair on a regular basis to ensure that it doesn’t get frizzy. What I love about a leave in serum is that it makes my hair manageable and keeps it easy to style, while maintaining it’s moisture level.

My Pick: BBlunt Anti Frizz Leave In Cream.

  • Tinted Lip Balm

There is no better way to brighten up a gloomy day than a perky, lip colour. I prefer using a tinted lip balm as opposed to a matte lipstick to keep up with my ‘light makeup mantra’, since it has the colour of a lipstick and the moisturisation of a lip balm.

My Pick: Sephora Ph Lip Balm / Burts Bees Tinted Lip Balm Rose

  • Hair Conditioning

Most of us are guilty of skipping out on conditioner post a shampoo and that little act of laziness can cost one a lot more during the monsoon. I highly recommend using a good hair mask once a week to deep condition my locks and to maintain hair and scalp strength.

My Pick : Wella Professionals Oil Reflections Luminous Reboost Mask

  • Waterproof mascara

‘Fresh’ is the keyword when it comes to makeup this season! Go for a soft, golden sheen on the eye and loads of mascara to look fresh and youthful in the downpour. Always opt for waterproof mascara to avoid any sort of makeup melt down.

My Pick : Maybelline New York Volume Express Falsies Mascara Waterproof variant.

  • Seal your Makeup

Always wear primer under your makeup and use a makeup fixing spray at the end to “seal” your makeup and to prevent any of those horrifying makeup meltdowns, which can end up ruining even the best of days.

My Pick: L’oreal Paris Infallible Pro Spray and Set Makeup Extender

  • Blush Affair

Layer on some powder blush over a soft layer of cream blush to ensure a healthy glow on your cheeks the entire day.

You can even mix a bit of your blush and highlighter to have a natural glow on your “no makeup” makeup days.

My Pick: Maybelline Dream Touch Blush + Mac Springsheen Blush.

  • Skin Conditioning

The changing weather conditions often disturb the pH level of our skin. Hence, I recommend that you moisturise it everyday, nourish it with a clay based face mask once a week, followed with a sheet mask to ensure its pH balance is maintained and there is a soft glow from within.

My Pick : Plum Grape Seed and Sea Buckthorn Renaissance Face Mask + Innisfree Its Real Squeeze Mask Green Tea variant.

  • Manicure and Pedicure

Don’t forget to show some love to your hands and feet this season. They tend to show the first signs of ageing. Hence, do not forget to go in for a regular manicure and pedicure to ensure your hands and feet are taken care of. Ensure your nails are of a shorter length to prevent infections.

My Pick: Jean Claude Biguine Organic Manicure and Pedicure.
