KAMA AYURVEDA BRIDAL BEAUTY BOX

It was definitely not my first visit to the Kama Ayurveda store in DLF Place Mall, Saket. I’ve been a regular at the brand’s multiple outlets across the city since I first came across it’s products. Being a staunch follower of a beauty regime inspired entirely by the use of natural products, I found the allure of a brand selling Ayurvedic products to be a little too much for me. Although I must admit that the packaging of a product can sometimes become the sole motivation for me to invest in a beauty product, but this time I was also attracted by the fact that most of the brand’s products were completely free from chemicals. The company does add a minimal level of chemicals in just a select range of products (and the people at the store specify it to you if asked) but for it’s overall range of products, the company believes in going chemical free to the extent that even the preservative used in it’s products is extracted from the Willow tree.

Coming back to the present, this time around, being a bride to be, I had the opportunity to curate my own Bridal Beauty Box at the Kama Ayurveda, DLF Place Mall, Saket outlet this week. A visit to the store always puts me in a good mood. The decor of the store is aesthetically pleasing with a positive vibe. The use of warm, inviting colours such as gold, brown and white definitely help to increase the attraction factor. Also, a host of smiling people ready to help you out with your selection can definitely be added to the list!

(A view of the bridal beauty box)

What I must mention here is that this beauty box is not just for brides but for everyone. The conditions for acquiring it are simple – A purchase of INR 7,000/- and above. However, that is not where that ends. There are more joys to come along the way. Upon fulfilment of the above mentioned condition, you get to consult with an Ayurvedic doctor and curate the box with a selection of products suitable to your skin/hair type AND you also earn yourself a travel kit and some spa vouchers!

(My consultation with the Ayurvedic doctor to pick the products most suited for my skin and hair type)

The first step to curating my ‘Bridal Beauty Box‘ was of course, to figure out more about my skin and hair requirements. The doctor was kind enough to answer all my questions about myself and to introduce me to a variety of Ayurvedic concoctions that would be suitable for my body. During the course of our conversation, I was quite surprised to learn that the products sold by Kama are curated based on age old Ayurvedic recipes found in our old texts and scriptures. The company focuses its energy on curating products that have been used time and time again over centuries and have been proven to be very beneficial for the human body. Apart from those that have a minimal amount of chemicals, all of their recipes are based on hard core scientific knowledge of our ancients.

Although the doctor recommended a host of products for me, but being a bride to be, I did not think it was appropriate to use new products right before my wedding because even Ayurvedic products can give rise to allergies in some people. Hence, I’d like to write in details about some of the products that I have been using regularly.

(Brigandi Intensive Hair Treatment)

To start with, I’d like to mention the Brigandi Intensive Hair Treatment. I’ve always been a die hard fan of oils as I strongly believe in their restorative powers over those of any other form of moisturization. Having grown up with a grandmother who relies heavily on natural products for her beauty treatments, I have always heard of the benefits of Brigandi oil from her but I have never had the opportunity to try it in my childhood. This product is a strong concoction of Indigo, Bringraj and Amla and it’s the reason behind the long, lustrous dark hair of our country folk. It’s main benefits include the following –

  • Prevents premature greying
  • Prevents hair loss
  • Promotes hair growth
  • Acts as a natural hair conditioner
  • Relieves one off of dandruff
  • Helps uplift mood with it’s earthy smell

How to apply: Apply to scalp as you would in the case of any hair oil, for about 30 minutes to a maximum of 2 hours prior to washing your hair.

Price: INR 1,050/- for a 250 ML bottle and INR 545/- for a 100 ML bottle.

(Hand Cream with Pure Essential Oils of Tuberose, Vetiver and Cardamom)

Although I experience dry skin throughout the year, my skin is particularly dry during the winter months. Most of us tend to focus on our face and hair and forget to take care of our hands that are first to experience ageing. Hence, I picked the Hand Cream with Pure Essential Oils of Tuberose, Vetiver and Cardamom as a part of my Bridal Beauty Box as well. What I love about the cream is that I barely need to repeat an application of the same. It keeps my hands feeling soft and supple for quite a while. In addition to the pure essential oils mentioned on the tube, the cream is also enriched with Cold pressed sweet almond, coconut oil, shea butter, kokum butter and some cocoa butter as well. Collectively, they ensure that my hands stay baby soft all winter. Plus, if you don’t care so much for the ingredients, I am sure that the cream’s beautiful fragrance would definitely attract you to it!

How to apply: Simply squeeze a little amount on to your hands and spread it all over them.

Price: INR 645/- for 60 GMS.

(Kumkumadi Brightening Ayurvedic Face Scrub)

When it comes to the face, it is essential to be very careful as the skin on our face is much thinner than that on the rest of our body. So do test the product on the inside of your elbow prior to using it. We all know that our skin, despite its thickness or thinness has multiple layers and it’s essential to scrub it a maximum of TWICE a week to get rid of the dead skin cells on the top. In addition to being my personal favourite, the Kumkumadi Brightening Ayurvedic Face Scrub is also a favourite of those at Vogue India. It was recently awarded the title of the Best Exfoliating Product by the magazine. Another one of those well known oils, Kumkumadi is known for it’s many beneficial properties such as those that help in illuminating the complexion, repairing pigmentation and minimising fine lines and other signs of ageing. This creamy skin exfoliator is enriched with Kashmiri saffron, sweet almonds and many other rare ingredients that combine together to give you a glowing skin.

How to apply: Simply mix the scrub with some milk, rose water or even mogra water to create a creamy paste and rub it on your face in a circular motion as you would for your face wash. Wash it off after.

Price:  INR 995/- for 50 GMS.

(Kumkumadi Miraculous Beauty Fluid Ayurvedic Night Serum)

Having mentioned the benefits of Kumkumadi oil in detail in the previous description, I will not repeat the same here. Consisting primarily of products such as Saffron, extracts of Indian Madder and Banyan Tree along with Sandalwood, Vetiver and Lotus, the Kumkumadi Miraculous Beauty Fluid Ayurvedic Night Serum is a potent night serum to slow down ageing. Not only does it help reduce pigmentation and fine lines but it also brightens dull skin.

How to apply: Spread two drops of the oil after washing your face at night. Do not apply a moisturiser after the same.

Price: INR 1,890/- for 12 ML.
