Hey you guys!

This particular post is by special request so keep dropping in your queries and your requests and I will try to put up a post on the same as soon as possible.

Blackheads have been a problem for almost all of us since we hit puberty. Not only is removal a painful process but an annoying one as well. So I decided to help us all by compiling a list of some age-old recipes to get rid of these unsightly dots. But before we get to that, here’s a little bit about of information about blackheads –

Blackheads are openings on the skin (pores) with blackened mass of skin covering the opening. It’s a mixture of hair follicle filled with skin debris, bacteria and some oil (sebum). These are caused by blockages in the opening of a pore. After the onset of puberty, our skin tends to overproduce sebum, which may get blocked at times resulting in a buildup of bacteria. The reason behind the color of a blackhead is the presence of Melanin pigment in the skin, which oxidizes and turns black in color upon exposure to air. Blackheads can emerge upon overuse of moisturizers, sun- screens, make up or any other substance that causes blockages in the pores of the skin.

Now that you know a lot more about blackheads (probably more than you wanted to :D) here’s how to treat them –

1) Pore Strips:

There are lots of cosmetic brands out there such as Ponds that sell pore strips to remove blackheads. All you have to do is stick the strip on to your nose for the required period of time and pull out the strip after. You can do this regularly to keep the blackheads at bay.

2) Egg White Mask:

Egg white mask can be used to get rid of blackheads and to tighten your pores temporarily preventing blackheads from appearing in the long run. People with dry skin can use this mask as well as egg white is rich in nutrients and keeps the skin nourished.

You will need –

  1. 1 egg
  2. Facial tissues
  3. A small bowl
  4. A clean towel

Start by rinsing your face. Pat it dry with a clean towel and then follow that up by applying a thin layer of egg white over your skin. Now place a strip of facial tissue over the wet egg white on your face and pat it gently. Once the first layer dries up, apply another layer of egg white on to your tissue making sure that it doesn’t move. You can repeat this process another time if required. Please make sure that each layer dries up before moving on to the next otherwise the mask will not work. As the mask dries up, your skin will start feeling very tight. Peel the tissue off when this happens and gently wash your face to get rid of any residue. Follow this up with your regular moisturizer.

3) Lemon:

Simply squeeze a few drops of lemon juice in a bowl and add some salt to it. Wash your face with warm water and follow that up by applying this mixture on your blackheads for around 20 minutes. Post application; wash your face with warm water once again.

4) Oatmeal and Yogurt:

Make a mixture of two tablespoons of oatmeal, three tablespoons of yogurt, one tablespoon of lemon juice, and a tablespoon of olive oil. Apply this paste on to your face and leave it on for around 10 -15 minutes before washing if off with cold water.

5) Cinnamon Powder and Lime juice:

Make a mixture out of equal parts of lime juice and cinnamon powder. Apply the resulting thick paste over the blackheads and leave it on overnight. Follow this up by washing your face with warm water in the morning.

Hope you guys find these useful! x
