The festival of colours is right around the corner and I’d like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy Holi! One need not be a Metaphysician to understand the importance of colours in our lives. Colours are all around us, in everything we see, in fact, even in the aura of the people we meet. Different cultures associate different colours with different feelings and moods and it’s the presence of these colours that makes life so beautiful. The bright colours of Spring are a welcome change after the dull grey of winter and the deep colours of the fall act as the perfect prelude to the winter.

Nature has its act balanced out with all its changing colours and we too need to understand the importance of balance in our lives. Life isn’t always fair or full of happiness. Multiple moments of sadness may be followed with a solitary moment of joy. But the ability to face all of these moments bravely is what is important. We need to be able to feel the joy emanating from the moments of brightness and the sadness associated with the grey moments in our lives. However, don’t let yourself go in these dark moments. The key is to accept them, to add some brightness manually into our lives and to move forward.

This particular post is my take on adding brightness into my life with the help of colours. I love wearing pastel colours and bright colours a lot. They help me feel happier and in return, spread happiness around myself. Off shoulder tops are big this Spring and I love the fact that they add an extra dose of femininity to any outfit. If you are wearing a cropped one, the best option is to match your top with a pair of high waisted pants or even a cute skirt. If I had such a top in a waist length version,  I would ideally pair it with distressed denim jeans for a very relaxed look. There are tonnes of ways to experiment with off shoulder tops but do add them to your wardrobe this season!  The straight neckline allows you to pair your top with a variety of necklaces. A choker can be a great option as it draws attention to the neck and the bare shoulders. I personally like to keep it relaxed with a long and simple neckpiece and that’s what I’ve done here. I fell in love with the skirt instantly though and I knew that I would be able to match these two perfectly. I usually wear nude wedges with skirts to make my calves appear muscular and to make my legs look longer. The illusion of length is very helpful if your skirt is as long as mine as it can look frumpy on short legs.

Anyway, take a look at the pictures yourself –
