Boho Fashion For the Winter
I know it’s been a while since my last post. I’d been travelling all of last week and it’s only now that I’ve been able to sit down and write this post for you guys. You know, I’ve never been the kind to dress boho on a regular basis. If you’ve been keeping track of my styling posts, you would know that I generally dress in very basic, feminine pieces that usually centre around a vintage theme. However, now that spring is right around the corner ( well, sort of) and the sun is out, I’ve found myself really experimenting with more ‘happy’ pieces. It’s florals – florals everywhere for me and a lot of pretty scarves. I feel that it’s really important to go with your gut when it comes to finding your style and it involves a lot of experiments. Just go ahead and get them out of the way so you can finally find what you like! After years of picking my own clothes (my mum used to shop for me for a looooong time), I know that bold, bright colours work well with me and are an instant lift me up on any given day. I’ve also discovered a never before kind of love for my natural wavy hair. It’s not like I’m going off of straightening, I’m just learning to let it misbehave quite often. And on the days that it misbehaves more than usual? Well, on comes the scarf! There are so so so many ways in which you can use a scarf to do up your hair and amp up your look. I just rolled mine and tied it around my head twice. Try it to see exactly how easy it is! I mean, it adds some serious pump to my look. Additionally, naturally wavy hair is a bonus when styling a boho look (Tip – If you have straight hair, just curl the first two sections of your hair using a hair tong or a straightner to achieve this look). It just adds some softness to the look.
The dress is beautiful by itself but you know, it never hurts to add another layer, especially a printed one when you’re wearing something this plain. It adds more character to your look and THAT is the key to looking stylish. Nope, its not about expensive pieces or being stick thin. You just have to be able to add some character to your outfit that highlights your personality. Like if you look at the pictures below, you would probably think of a sweet, simple girl with a quiet personality and a very feminine sense of style. So think of how you feel and bring that out with the help of your clothes. More so, layering allows you to mix and match and create a new look with just a few pieces.
I kept my make up minimal for this look with the highlight being my lips. A quick swipe of a bright pink lipstick was all that I needed to complete my look. Take a look at the pictures below and see for yourself –
